Should watching porn be illegal? Kamlesh Vaswani, a lawyer from MP, filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court last month asking for porn-viewing to be made a non-bailable offence.

Vaswani’s action prompted vocal (and sometimes overly emotional) reactions. Now the storm has calmed down, let’s leave the emotions aside and engage in some constructive critique.

A friend of mine told me recently about the first time her parents met her boyfriend’s parents. “I was so nervous – and rightly so!" she said.

"The situation was tense, there was a lot of awkwardness in the air.” Sure, the first parents’ meeting could turn out to be tense, awkward and in extreme cases even explosive. So how did it go? I was curious to hear. 

A friend of mine told me last week that she felt embarrassed by her uneven breasts.

“My left breast is bigger than my right. My boyfriend commented on it recently, I’ve been freaking out ever since,” she said. Well, most women have uneven breasts – that was no reason to worry. But my friend remained unconvinced, “It makes me conscious and uncomfortable. How can I not worry?” 

“My new boss was flirting with me,” a friend of mine told me last week. “I turned him away and he got offended. Now it’s affecting my professional relationship with him.”

My friend, a management professional, said, “It’s a damn tricky situation. If I go along with it, it will be against my principles. But if I don’t, it will affect my career in this work place.”

Last week a friend of mine called me all panicky, “Last night was damn stressful yaar. What should I tell you – I didn’t sleep only. He came inside me and we weren’t using any protection.”

Oh my bhagwan! What did she do then? “Spent a sleepless night yaar. And in the morning, rushed to get some morning-after pills,” she said and heaved a sigh of relief.

It’s a quote from a short documentary I watched last week called The Kinda Sutra. The filmmaker asked some people where they thought babies came from when they were young. The eight-minute film (totally recommend it) had some bizarre responses and inspired me to ask a few friends of mine where they thought babies came from when they were young.

Last week I was travelling across Iran, where I noticed a weird trend – a lot of women (and a few men) had bandaged noses.

An Iranian friend informed me they were all recovering from recent nose jobs. “They are proud to let everyone know that they've had a nose job!” he said. That's strange – is artificial beauty something to be proud of?

“I haven’t met this girl, but I’ve been chatting online,” a friend of mine said, “and I think I’m really falling in love with her!”

How can that be? He hasn’t even met her in real life, I thought! I’ve had my doubts about online love – maybe I’m too old-fashioned for the internet age. So my friend’s true online love story came as a challenge.
